Schools & Field Trips

Is your class or group studying bees or pollinators?   We offer group farm tours & bee experiences.  These mini classes are perfect for STEM-minded elementary & middle school classes, potential beekeepers, garden clubs, scouts, book groups, or families looking for a close up experience with nature.

Events can be at our bee yards (Pittsboro or Garner, NC) or at your location indoors or out.

Fields of Study

I offer several topics, which can be tailored to your studies including:

  • Pollination in the garden & food supply
  • Bee biology & life in the hive
  • Products of the hive & the benefits of honey

I provide observation hives, digital presentations, lots of visual materials, hands-on activities, games & scavenger hunts, take home references, and an optional hands-in-the-hive time.  Teachers can access pre & post tour curriculum to extend or enrich the experience.  Plus everyone leaves with a bit of honey to celebrate the day!

Cost & Scheduling

Fees vary with the group size and duration but average about $10/student.  On-farm events are highly seasonal and weather dependent.   April & May are peak season – so please book early!  Off-farm events are more flexible and available year round.   Note that observation hives are not available October -March (the bees are in winter cluster).
